| "I got a list of users in Excel format, how do i import the users contacts into VisualGSM and send out group SMS?" |
| |
| |
| Procedure |
| STEP 1:- Run VisualGSM Manager, logon by selecting Manage Server. |
| |
| |
| STEP 2:- Add Group to Phone book. |
Click on “Phone Book” tab, add New Group as shown below, add New Members and then assign the Member to the Group (Group must be highlighted) using the red arrow buttons as shown below.
Note:- Group names should preferably contain no space (you can replace space with hyphen), especially if you intend to use Email2SMS (since emails cannot contain space). |

| STEP 3:- Import contacts from Excel (CSV) |
To import contacts from Excel (CSV) into a Group, first, you must first create a template CSV file. This can be done by exporting an existing Group with at least one contact/member.
You may then populate the exported CSV file (which you can open using Excel) with your contacts. Take note that the column "SENTTOTYPE" must be set to 0. The other compulsory columns include "OWNERNAME"* and "PHONENUMBER".
After that, save your Excel file as CSV, then click on "Import Group" and browse for the CSV file which you have updated/created. You are allowed to import the same file if there are changes made to the PHONENUMBER or any fields under the same OWNERNAME.
*Note:- OWNERNAME is the key and must be unique. You can use letters, hyphens, underscores, or alphanumeric, but it must not contain only numbers. To generate unique OWNERNAME values across all your records quicky, you can use 'A1' for the first record, 'A2' for the second record, highlight them all, then grab the plus sign at the bottom right corner of the 2nd record, and then drag it down. |
| |
| |
| STEP 4:- Click on “Send SMS” tab and send a message to the group you just created. |
